While we remain unaware of the size of the impact that could happen due to an epidemic outbreak in China and other countries, one thing is for sure, many businesses will be held back this year due to the disturbance that is currently happening in China, and a huge number of businesses will be short on supplies in general.

In this article we will mention general information about the coronavirus and how to protect yourself, in addition to other related business issues that the novel coronavirus imposes.

What is the Novel Coronavirus?

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that are known to cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases that spread between animals and humans. The novel coronavirus (CoV) is a new strain of that family that wasn’t previously known to infect humans. Those viruses could be transmitted from person to person after contact with an infected patient. Just like the spread of cold or flu, when an infected patient coughs or sneezes, they transmit the disease through the droplets that spread in the air surrounding the patient. So far, the disease has been spreading between those who have already come in contact with infected patients and other people, it is still early to determine other ways of transmission. However, the world health organization has reported cases where the disease was previously transmitted from civet cats to humans in China in 2002, and from dromedary camels to humans in Saudi Arabia.

What are the symptoms of the Novel Coronavirus?

Common signs include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, the infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and even death.
